Plant ID Please

    Was given these two cuttings in April 19, but the person didn't know the name,
    they both died off and have now come back in the last couple of months but unsure what they are called, the first two pictures suggest that its a buddleia maybe but not sure? not not a clue on the 2nd ID (pictures 3+4)

    The first two photos seem to be of a persicaria, although I haven’t a clue which one. They are quite hardy and resilient...

    The leaves of the second plant (last two photos) are annoyingly familiar, but the name escapes me. I’m sure the experts will be along shortly!

      agree with sain for the persicaria , 2nd picture looks like Salvia nemorosa I would say carradonna variety

        I would say the bottom two are Verbena.

          The leaves on the last two pictures do appear to be opposite each other on the stem, like Verbena bonariensis but we would need to see a clear close up of the stem. bonariensis has a stem that is square in cross section and not round. It also has a sticky feel as though there are miniscule hooks on it.

            2. Would appear to be woody at the base ...therefore feel it is a shrub.

              Thanks for the replies,, is Persicaria a form of Knotwood and should I be careful before introducing this into my Garden? I have added 4 extra pictures for the 2nd ID, and yes I think its a shrub as well, as Silver Surfer said it is woody at the base.

                I discounted the woody base originally because some of our Verbenas also have a woody base as they have been there quite a long time. That's why I suggested a clear close-up of the stem. If they have only been in the pots for a season then it's likely that the woody base shows it is not Verbena.

                  1. Persicaria ..maybe Persicaria amplexicaulis.
                  Could get to form a huge patch if happy.

                  This is your image trimmed .Hopefully you can see my problem.
                  General pics are really hard to id with any accuracy.

                  Below are clear close up to show photo of leaf detail

                  First 3 Verbena bonariensis.
                  Last 2 Verbena rigida.

                  Suggest you plant this shrub and add more pics next year when it flowers.
