Hi all I am out in the garden now that it is spring and about a year and a half ago I laid new turf.

From the picture you will see that the soil is a moist and and in places the grass has disappeared. The Gardening fork goes into the soil very easily as before I laid the new turf I rotavated the existing soil. What would you recommend I do do as next steps to solve this problem before it gets any worse. Many thanks!

Do you have any better overall pictures of the turf Niall?

Mine looks very similar. I plan to fertilise and seed In a few weeks.

Wet matting grass, needs to dry out, a very light cut when you are able to do one depending on temps and conditions.
It’s not uncommon to see that with turf, once you start to feed when temps are high enough I would expect to see if fill in. I would refrain from scarifying with a machine but you could lightly rake it by hand working backwards before it’s first cut.

    Thanks for the response.

Should i do anything in relation to the soil? Should I spike it? or just leave it alone until it dries out. Thanks
