That is exactly why they were given their jobs by CoCo the Clown. They (he and Dominic Cummings) did not need competence, just people who would say yes and do as they were told. The buck stops with CoCo.

As far as the DC issue goes he claims that he took his son to his parents for child care as he and his wife had Covid symptons! So he travelled 250 miles to drop off a potential Covid carrier with another household (of older people)!!!!! Is it any wonder that CoCo managed to kill so many elderly people when this man is advising him!

Anyway, I am leaving this thread as I am too angry over all of this. We have done so much damage to the futures of our young people and children and that makes me angry. Us wrinklies have had our go, it is wrong to lumber our youngsters with this just for us. And that does not include the (potential) 130000 deaths (government figures) from potentially treatable cancers over the next 2 to 3 years, the people who have died as a result of cancelled surgery during lockdown etc. I have attended the funerals of two friends who were waiting for coronary stents which were postponed as a result of the covid response. One of my customers held their sons funeral last wednesday after he commited suicide over his 'exam' results.

Just my thoughts and feelings, there is no offence intended to anyone.

Oh God, that is awful to hear - the exam results fiasco is one very close to home for me, as that had my daughter tied in knots as well. My heart goes out to your friends losing their son.

Unfortunately in our days 'safe' can have 2 meanings. One meaning is genuinely safe and the second meaning is allegedly safe just to be able to gain a lot of money for already wealthy unscrupulous politicians. How can we be sure if 'safe' is really safe? I do not trust our politicians as their only aim is to enrich themselves.

Perhaps not in the short term, but a lot of the figures do not stack up at all and are being made significantly worse by our scaremongering media. I am not saying for one second that it is not a nasty virus, because it is, but the doom and gloom scenario we have at the moment is quite ridiculous when you look at the data.

Currently, we are being shown number of cases - that is people who have tested positive who may or may not actually have the virus (apparently there is a high percentage of false positives), many don't have any symptoms, but we are not being told hospitalisations resulting from the virus and the mortality rate is as near zero as it could get. Meanwhile we have tens of thousands who are seeing their physical and mental health shot to pieces and cancer patients not receiving the treatment and care they need and deserve.

It can certainly be argued that the near zero death rate currently is due to the measures in place, but if those measures were as effective, why are cases spiking? Where they are spiking, why is the hospitalisation rate low? If masks are so effective, why do we need to stand 6ft apart?

As I said earlier, after scaring the living daylights out of 75% of the people in the country the government now can't understand why certain sectors of the workforce don't want to get on a train and go back to work.

And lets face it the government were responsible for over 50% of those deaths, in care homes, that they used to scare the daylights out of everyone.

@longk I enjoyed that walk when I was visiting however I walked in the opposite direction from Waterloo Station and then turned left on a major road which at the time had a marathon running and I was forced to "walk" along with the marathon for quite a distance. Finally was able to cross at the intersection where the cenotaph is and was glad of that as I might have missed it without the "marathon guided tour". :heehee:

Very nice pics. Takes me back to a fun trip :)

Big issues regarding cycle lanes that are springing up everywhere.
We have an example in my town, you get off a bus and are straight into a live cycle lane, the lane has been created , but busses cant cross it to get to the kerb.

Is it "safe" no, but does anybody care no, just another knee jerk reaction to a virus.

We also have cycle lanes in Salford where you can never see cyclists. Besides a cycle lane on the nearest street just ends at the cross with another road. I don't think that with our weather in the NW of England a lot of people could be encouraged to cycle. When in rare moments we see cyclists they do not seem to follow any rules if there are any. And another fact I have never seen a cyclist keeping distance. There are some in parks. A pedestrian is supposed to jump away to give them way to go even if a cyclist is at the back of a pedestrian.
