    T'other Half said it had white flowers like a Dandelion (which we don't have here). Could it be White Bryony?

        Sorry but definitely not Sonchus aspera....common name Prickly sow thistle.
        Leaves are very different and are prickly.

                Well it looks like the one I see all the time, so I would plump for this one, it can look a bit prickly but it usually isn't .
