I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place, but I don't know where else to put it.

I am having problems using the site.
When I look at a thread the page does not look as it usually does - in each posting the member's icon comes first, then the details such as date joined etc are underneath it but on the right hand side,
then comes the writing and photos,
then comes the little icons for 'like' etc but they are in a vertical row,

When I try to post a comment I get a message saying there's an error, and then another message saying I must wait 27 seconds before posting.
After 27 seconds I get the same message again.

Please can someone help me because it is driving me mad :wallbanging::heehee:

How are you accessing the site? E.g. smartphone or PC, Windows version, Mac OS version , Chromebook, it would help to know.

The site looks completely different on my Android phone compared to Chrome on my Windows 10 desktop.

It's on a laptop @JWK, the same one that I have used for years . It has been like this for two days.
It downloaded (don't know if that's the correct word) an update recently and I am wondering if that has messed it up.

I see the comment has come out even though I had a message saying there's an error.

          Morning Michael :)

I suspect that this is the case.

Can I suggest that you do a couple of things:

          - clear your browser's cache (if you don't know how to do this you can download CCleaner as it essentially does the same thing)
          - restart your laptop
          - run disc clean-up to free up space (not needed if you went the CCleaner route)
          - reinstall your preferred browser (Chrome, Edge etc) or try a different browser

Idiots remark, but would a system restore work?

It may well do - personally, I have a feeling that it is a space issue, so space on the hard drive getting tight and gumming things up.

System restore is probably a last resort in my book.

If it's a space issue it might be worth cleaning up your hard disk @Michael Hewett start by emptying your recycle bin.

Given your problem started after your system updated is likely to be the root cause though, cleaning out the cache as @Fat Controller says is the best thing to try.

By the way, after clearing cache you will have to log into the forum again, you will need your password.

Thanks for the advice everyone, I have uninstalled the updates but it has made no difference at all.
I'm afraid of clearing cache because I don't want all my passwords on all sites deleted. I'd have to put them all back on again and it would be too big a job ... I can't remember them all anyway, the computer remembers them for me.

However, I've discovered that I'm able to see Gardener's Corner properly on my big desk computer (which I haven't used for months) so for now I shall continue to look at it on there. It has a nice big screen and a nice big keyboard, more suitable for my eyes and clumsy fingers :heehee:
I actually think my old laptop needs replacing too so that means a trip to Currys next week (and there's a nice garden centre on the way there ! :hapydancsmil: )

                        Hi,

3 things to mention there , though just our take on things, sure others will have there own comments

Depending on your Browser you may be able to print out a list of your Sites and Passwords so you always have a hard copy to fall back on.

Using a Browser to save your passwords perhaps not the best or safest way unless its one that has a master password or account log on etc to access them.
You could look at using a Password Manager, some good free ones around.
We would never keep any Banking passwords in browsers.

Likewise we still prefer the big desktop screen and keyboard, so do you really need to replace the laptop ?

Would think some of the above points others have mention would get things working properly if you could save your password.
Be interested to know what make and model it is as some older laptops can be made faster with just a few hardware updates.

Currys, we do go there to look at the products, but would be the last place on earth we would by one from, John Lewis usually gives 2 years warranty and has a much better customer sevice.

It is possible to just clear the cache for one website, so you would only need the GC password.

Thanks for everyone's help. I may try to clear the cache for this website only as @JWK suggests if I can work out how to do it, but it all frightens me a bit. I don't understand enough about it and can get muddled easily.

That would be handy @Fat Controller if you don't mind, thank you.

@ricky101 I bought this computer and my laptop from a local shop and they've been very good over the years, but they have moved to another location which is out of the way for me, so that's why I thought of Currys. I also want to talk to someone about it so would like to go to a shop where I can do that.
My laptop is an Acer, it has windows 10.
