    Hi
I would wait a little longer if you can ,dig a large hole where you want to move the tree to, then get a friend to help and dig as far away round the tree as you can manage, and dig as deep under the tree as you can, place it on some sacking or tarpaulin to help to move it ,and position it in its new site ,i would try and give it some support, for any winter gales and keep it watered if the weather is dry, and keep your fingers crossed it survives :okies:

Thanks, it has to be moved now due to building work. Its going to a sheltered area so I'll do my best.

Hi SPG welcome to the forum don't worry about asking questions we might have heard before it's always swings and roundabouts on here and that's what makes it fun.

If your conifer fails to enjoy the 'move' it will give you a good excuse to buy something else in it's place I know it will be a loss but sometimes things just don't like being moved about or you end up not getting a good root ball, it can happen to any of us newbies and expert gardeners alike...I'ave been gardening for 20 odd years now and I still class myself as a newbie!:D

I wish you well with your big dig maybe get a couple of friends round to help you move the monster.Hel.xxx.
