Acer plant winter damage

    My Acer plant has small leaves on the top, any ideas

    If there are no obvious signs of pests or disease, poor growth can be caused by poor drainage/waterlogging, strong wind, sun, earlier frost damage. Most acers grow better in a sheltered, shady location in free draining soil. You could either relocate it or clear the area around it to lessen competition, add an organic mulch and keep it well watered.

    Thanks for reply, I am leaning towards frost damage, will it recover next year

    If that is the main cause, try mulching and watering it. You should see recovery within a few weeks.
