I have a long bed dedicated to various daffs. Once they've gone over, I tidy it, mulch it, then leave it alone. However, this year, I want to refresh the whole thing and this will involve digging up the bulbs with a view to replanting.

Bearing in mind that, in general, daff bulbs are normally planted in September, should I wait until then, or could I do it earlier in the year and store the bulbs until I need them?

I think you could do either option @The Bird Lady, provided you let the foliage die down before digging up and storing, normally about 6 weeks after flowering. Feed them with tomato food now to help them build up reserves for next year's flowering. If you intend to refresh the border by planting something other than bulbs and want some summer colour, I'd dig the bulbs up once they've died down. You can then plant the bulbs amongst the new plants in September.

Yes, I think that is what I'll end up doing. Thank you. :dbgrtmb:

      Hi

take a photo or put canes in so you know where they are take out once the leaves are going yellow. Put to one side and let them dry out and give them a clean up at the same time , if you wanted you can replant them straight away you don’t have to wait until September.
