After the rain we now have clear blue skies, so only 6 degrees in the greenhouse which is a tad low for my liking this time of year. No rain forecast till Thursday and the wind is just a gentle breeze. Roses are blooming, first tomato spotted(Marmande) and things really are looking good in the garden, will it last though lol. 9 degrees forecast to rise to 16, that'll do.

Bit better today, a few patchy showers but bright at them moment. We've had easily 60mm rain over the last few days

We're having a rainy spell here, but after that long dry period I don't mind it. It is said to be heavy rain this afternoon.
Actually we need the rain - one Welsh reservoir near Merthyr Tydfil is so low that an old bridge which was submerged under it has reappeared in sight.

        www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ckgnl93v9vxo

I can remember the Cray reservoir near Sennybridge also being very low several times over the years, and a submerged building becoming visible. I thought it was creepy ...
Then as the water returned you could only see the top of it for a while, until it became totally submerged again. Very creepy !

Heavy rain expected at lunch time so I shall get up the road first thing. It rained a bit yesterday, but not enough.

Temp may be just 12c so it's back to jumpers.

            The wind has died down.

            A day for indoor jobs.

That is where I was christened.

We are 16c now with a light breeze. The tractor woke me at 6.30 but I fell back asleep till 8.10. A warm one again going to 31c.

Were you christened actually in the reservoir or somewhere in Merthyr ? I know Baptists baptized people in rivers many years ago, there are several old baptismal spots in rivers around here.

There has been a fair amount of overnight rain and a light shoWer is happening right now. StilL a SW breeze but not heavy.
The real stuff is coming this afternoon,

Looking out my Wisteria is not wooshing around or the Trees so a bit calmer today , good. Drizzling now building up a bit to heavy rain later. Garden is well watered now where did I put my 4/5 new plants to plant ? It’s 14C so pleasant enough.

To be honest I don't actually know as I was very small. (Well, not very as I weighed 10 1/2 lbs at birth :heehee: ) but I believe it was a church but would have to retrieve my baptism papers for the name. Strangely, all my papers are in Welsh.

It is 24c now so must get out for an hour.

It is very nice. A sunny start to the day and 52f 10c. A great day for baking potting soil for next year. :)

@Michael Hewett thank you for sharing that article and your recollections. That indeed, is really something to see. I could picture that bridge cleared of the surface rubble as still quite serviceable. Amazing! :dbgrtmb:

That isn't strange at all, many churches and chapels (especially chapels) were all Welsh in those days. I didn't speak English until I was 6 years old, there was no need, everything was in Welsh. (I could understand it but there was just no need to speak it)

We're having heavy rain now, so the forecast was correct for a change.
