I have had problems with cats sitting on the edge of my pond and catching and eating my goldfish (I have seen them do it!).
So I wanted to find some sort of cover but most cover the whole pond, look ugly and you cannot see the fish very well. They also got in the way of plants at each end.
There is also a small solar fountain to accommodate.
Think I have now found a workable solution.
They are metal panels (indoor/outdoor panels for hanging decoration) and seem to be ideal.
I can remove them easily when I want to appreciate the pond but still keep cats out at night, I think they also look quite attractive!
    What do you think?

The ones I've seen that I thought would be most effective but least noticeable, are made to measure ones. I was looking for something really solid as I dog board and wanted to add safety. But in your case, plastic might work perfectly well.

      I'd been looking at something like this: https: //www . pondsafety.com / products / diamondeck-pondsafety-grid/.
I guess you could omit a grid here and there to allow plants to emerge.

I think those grids look nice - are they heavy enough for the cats to be unable to move them? Or, you could cut them to shape and have them just at orvbelow the surface - you may already have sorted it out by now anyway!

No idea if that's any help; it must be frustrating seeing the cats having a lovely fish supper all the time!

I use 2in square steel galvanised mesh bought from Amazon and cut to the rough shape of the pond.
      Mostly to stop herons.

They are too heavy for cats to move, they weigh about 1.5kg each.
I now take them off during the day and put them back early evening (which is when the cats appear!!).
They cannot be cut but they do the job on my pond at least.

I like them. If you like them and they do what you want them to do, without causing problems for others, that is all that matters.
