    ^those are some lovely roses.. 'Absolutely Fabulous' is simply one of the best floribundas in that colour you can get.. if not the best.. It can get very large, for me it grew about 5' x 8' across..

    @Plantminded
    A rose like 'Bishop of Llandaff'.. well, off the top of my head perhaps 'Josephine Bruce'? I think the Peter Beales site offers lots of red roses, perhaps more than Austin.

    I don't know 'Chelsea Pensioner', but here's 'Flanders Rose'.. perhaps another to consider..

      Thank you @Mrs Hillard, that's very helpful. I've decided that Chelsea Pensioner has the closer match, but in reality it may be very different than on screen :biggrin:.

      For any keen rose growers reading, Harkness Roses are currently offering a BOGOFF deal on a selected range of roses. I've just saved £29.99 :).

        I didn't know absolutely fabulous potentially got that big. I bought one for mothers day, so will have to see if she's given it plenty of space.

          @Plantminded Harkness do some nice roses don't they? looking forward to photos of that one in due course..

          @Thevictorian
          It can always be pruned hard if necessary, so not something to worry about at this stage..

            My climbing roses, don’t look too closely, I need to deadhead but it’s pouring with rain!

            The Pilgrim, the fragrance is beautiful, my neighbour often comments about it.

                Thanks @Mrs Hillard yes I do prune them and train them along wires, I also leave some to grow up straight so I get lots of flowers in the front and middle as well.

                        Beautiful flowers as always.

                        I cut this magnificent bloom yesterday in case it got trashed by the heavy rain today. My lovely 'Royal William' is soldiering on, 32 years old and 3 house moves later. 20250611_175609.jpg

                          Must say ‘The Kings Rose’ is striking and it’s doing well in your garden @Mrs Hillard . I don’t have any space to plant one in my garden at the moment wish I did !.

                            Thanks.. I really like this rose, I didn't expect to, as the so called 'Painter's roses' like these, never appealed to me that much. There's a climbing rose, virtually thornless, scented, and looks very similar, called 'Berries 'n Cream'..

                              ..thanks.. after all those years I can see you're very proud of that rather lovely red rose. I've seen it in gardens I've visited and it always caught my eye.
