Whose eggs are these?

Any idea who these eggs belong to? They are on the underside of chard and salad leaves. They are just in little patches like this on a few leaves that I’ve found.
I assume washing them off leaves the plant still ok to eat.

Ah ok, you could well be right. Those are the ones that leave swirly patterns across the leaves?
I have gotten rid of a few of those leaves on these plants already.

 

Or just eat them and think of the eggs as extra protein!

 

Wipe off with a damp finger, wipe finger on trousers/shorts and no problem Joking aside, just removing with a damp tissue and the leaves remain edible.

Good grief no, I just have to remember to wash hands when I go back indoors.
