    Hi all,

Thought I ought to add a post about my new Polytunnel.

The premise for the new polytunnel was to have a tunnel almost the size of my second allotment plot, I'd asked the people who run it "How big can I go", and was given the answer "as big as you want, but you have to leave a metre gap between it and neighbouring plots", the width worked out about right, the length is shorter, but I am in now way bothered, as I do still need some outdoor space to work with.

All in all, I'm really happy with the end result now I'm now in the second year of using it, I do have an area at the back, which I'm growing different Canna varieties and this year I've bought some Colocasia to try, as they are quite pretty. I also have growing, a grape vine which is a seedless, green variety which is extremely sweet, grown from a cutting I took from a neighbouring allotmenteer, and at the other end, a couple of different varieties of Kiwi fruits and a couple of banana palms.

I will be adding photos, and will edit the thread as I add them. as the photos are mainly on my phone.

              That's ENORMOUS @Webmaster ! A brilliant job!
I'm amazed you covered it on your own - I found the plastic slid everywhere. So what's the plan? Pineapples, passion fruit, bananas? Or just very early potatoes

Splendid. Glad you have left a space for a cooling off/tool shed!
Just in passing;did you need to get formal planning permission as the structure is beyond household dimension ?

Brilliant job. Our first polytunnel we erected ourselves and putting up the cover was the worse job ever. It lasted for 20 years (not putting it up but using it!) so we must have done a good job. Have never regretted having one as we get so much produce from it all year round. Our tunnel now is a polycarbonate one and is slightly bigger.

I do have things growing which are more suited to warmer conditions, this year, I'm trying Thai wing beans, Thai morning glory etc, but I do have planted a Peach Tree, a grape vine, 2 different varieties of Kiwi, but for growing Chillis, it will be perfect.

I asked the people who run our allotment on behalf of the council, no problem, and the council have done inspections regarding competitions, and nothing has been said, so I'm assuming its ok

Be warned @Webmaster if you've got a peach tree in there. I have one outside, and though it's not very tall, it's very wide. But it does seem to have quite a few fruit set this year. IMG_20250617_081413781_HDR.jpg
