Happy accident(s)

    This is a picture of an accident that happened in our garden that so far is making me happy. It's a Boston ivy that was completely cut back down when we moved in 12 years ago, growing from the spot in the bottom right of the picture. It grows on the east side of a south-to-north fence, so it has to reach for the light. It grew over the wood storage, and found the bare branches of a very old Lilac tree. It clads the branches well without overwhelming the tree. It seems to prefer the older grooved bark over younger branches. Previously I also had a Clematis montana in the lilac, which was a terrifically bad idea. It overwhelmed the tree, its bare vines looked dire against the bare branches, and it flowered at the same time. So far this ivy/lilac arrangement is working out well, long may it continue.

    It would be nice to see more happy accidents, the kind of unexpected thing that happened and you welcomed into your garden :yay:

      That looks really fab, @micearguers. :dbgrtmb: I have a few things that have worked out nicely by chance, but nothing on that scale.
