Hello! It's my second year growing beetroots. I'm not sure if I messed something up or if this is normal. I've got three bunches of beetroots - two are growing fine, but one got less sun for a while because of a crazy nasturtium growing next to it. Now, that third bunch has a couple of thin beetroots sticking out of the ground. Is that normal, or did the lack of sun mess it up? It's smaller than the others too, but since I uncovered it, it's been growing faster and looking better.

They're all still pretty young. I'm just wondering if that third one will swell up eventually or if it’s going to stay like this.

And the "normal" one in comparison:

I multisow beetroot and you just remove the odd one when you want it and let the others fill in the space. If you leave them they should swell up and you can just twist one out when it's at harvesting size. Planting closer means you will get smaller beets in general.
I succession sow and sometimes use the smaller ones mostly as a leaf crop.

The beetroot will swell to available space.
It's good to have some growing slower than others, pick then as they reach a usable size and those left will grow on.
