ID this weed please?

Hopefully someone can help - I’ve been pulling this up all through one border but it keeps appearing. Looks like very long roots so I’m probably just breaking the top leaving the root to happily produce more plants (to drive me bonkers!)

 

Could be a sow thistle and yes you are right. If pulling/digging doesn't get all the root out it will continue to grow and spread.

 

They're usually quite easy to pull up though. Using a fork to loosen the soil around them before pulling can help. I have a long handled one which is my favourite weeding tool.

 

By pulling you may leave sufficient to grow one again;but by not you leave potential for 'thousands' to spread. Hoe off seedlings, while you can as its hot, for maximum effect!

 

My money goes on Sorrel, but I’m probably wrong.

 

Do you need to know?
If its weed get rid of it.

 

Spray with weed killer it will kill the roots.
