Has anyone grown Thompson & Morgans melon The France Miniature , says on the packet Unique- tastes like fudge.

I have grown them this year but Im wondering if I have got my Labels mixed up :noidea: the seeds were bigger than a melon seed ive had before also brown in colour . also nothing like a melon seed , they have usualy been white / cream .

They re nothing like the melon plants I have grown before. Big leaves , very strong plants and now has many flowers up and down the stem. the flowers themselves are stronger larger than other melon flowers and lots of male ones which is normal ,
to be honest the plant reminds me of a squash.

I have them in my green house .
but im thinking of planting one on the veg patch just incase.

          I see they are 99p a packet now f rom 3.99.

No after many years of buying seed from T&M its mostly a lottery, you win some you lose some.
If it sounds too good to be true they will have it.

Agree that T & M have certainly lost the plot over the years. Unknown seeds and poor quality seem to be the standard now.
Not sure I'd really want to try a Melon described as tasting like fudge tho ?

Has anybody ever had anything half descent from T&M? After a couple of bitter experiences years ago I vowed never to buy anything living ( living being extremely dubious!) again. Have bought the odd thing like tomato feed but draw the line at anything which actually has needed any skill to nurture.

I must admit it's a while ,years infact since I bought some seed or plants from them. But I like trying different things hence the fudge tasting melon . It's just that I don't think it's a melon its growing very quick and has loads of flowers the stem ( or whatever its called is about 3 ft ) in less than 2 weeks.
I tried to Google it but got nowhere . I may plant one outside and see what happens :what:

I think they regularly get panned due to poor service and plants not being up to scratch. I agree with @hailbopp about the kind of thing I'd get from them. Far better suppliers, who are reliable, and if mistakes are made, they'll sort it out. There'll always be the odd thing springing up that's incorrect in an order, but it's how a company deals with it that matters most.
I've never bought anything from them - maybe a couple of things donkeys' years ago when I first started gardening, but it would have been seed.
I agree with @Philippa too. Not sure I like the idea of a melon tasting of fudge. Better to just buy fudge....

Suspect it's just part of the trend of breeding fruits and vegetables to be sweeter and sweeter. I always have to stay alert in the supermarket to make sure I buy Little Gem lettuce and not Sweet Gem.

should have been 5 seed but only 4 in my pkt.:gaah:,[/QUOTE]

I looked this item up on T&M's site and it states 4 seeds in the packet, so it's possible you've mixed the seed up with something else, which you did say at the start might have happened.
