I have a rose bush that was planted in a front flowerbed by the landscapers in the new build house we bought.

We are in the house two years and the plant has grown an awful lot in that time and to be quite honest I haven’t a clue how best to do even the most basics such as when or where on the steam to deadhead, should I spray something on it etc.

I have attached a few pictures, is there any high level initial advice on what to do as I begin to take a greater interest.

    Thanks

Where there are clusters of flowers just snip off the dead ones. When the cluster is over cut it off about 6 inches to just above the nearest leaf.

Feed your rose in March and again in summer after flowering with a rose fertiliser eg Toprose. Give it a bucket of water when the weather is hot and dry.

In February/March prune it. There are diagrams on the net and demonstrations on YouTube.

      Thank you very helpful.
The rose is in a flower bed with some other plants, looking back I don’t think it was ever pruned (last Feb/March) which is maybe why it has become quite widespread.
If it is in a shared flowerbed I presume there is no issue feeding it in a shared flowerbed. As it is Summer now, it would be suited to a feed.

See the attached pictures of leaves, some are half eaten and are at the top of the stem. Should I leave these leaves as is? Anything to stop what is eating them continuing to do so?

      Thanks

Probably rose sawflies or leaf cutter bees. Unsightly but they won't kill the rose. The young of sawflies are called rose worms but they are more like tiny caterpillars. Pick them off if you see any. Rose worms tend to suck out the sap though.

If the leaves are green I don't remove them but if they are yellowing or look ill I do remove them.
