Serrano, just starting to fruit, but in a different greenhouse to the others and shaded by the onions drying which are hanging from the roof.

Do you water from the top or the bottom or just use your damp capillary mating as the jury seems out on that question.

Hi @waterbut I water around the bottom of the pot in a circle where it sits on the matting, so the whole matting doesn’t get wet, just where the pot is, but I feed from the top.

I just fill up receptacles with water and drop a "wick" of felt as the feeder to the matting under the plants. My variety of super hots .

There was no room left in the other greenhouses so this chillie lives in Hotel California...

Managing the whiteflies, but mostly by squishing them with my fingers, those traps do not seem to be getting much, the spiders webs are doing better, so next year I will be catching spiders and letting them lose in the greenhouse.

I'm only a casual chilli grower. I bought this plant from Morrisons a few weeks ago and it's sitting on the patio.

@Escarpment what is the name of that chillie please? The dark colour is interesting and since I add crushed peppers to my breads and things, I like to have a variety of colour to pump up the eye appeal and that would be an interesting addition to my mix. :)

I just use a variation of an egg bread which I don't bother braiding.

                          2 tablespoons oil
                          2 eggs
                          1 1/3 cup water
                          1/4 cup white sugar
2 tablespoons milk powder (I use soy milk powder, it's cheap and works well)
                          1 teaspoon salt
Grated or chopped chillies - experiment I use at least an ounce depending on the scovill rating
4 cups flour (you may need more if your eggs are huge)
                          3 teaspoons yeast

I cheat and usd a bread maker to administer the pummeling then form the loaves or buns

Buns take 11 minutes at 375f bread can take about 18 minutes

I have 5 chilli plants which I have just separated to give them each more air space around each one. I have discovered plants do not like being grown close to each other, survival I suppose. They all seem to enjoy better light and air movement. The same as us. The one and only fruit on the Fiery Tongue plant now measures 9 ins.

Ripe and unripe aji camba, the earliest I have. Two ripe ones drying out to save seeds, the others I used in a very tasty salsa. IMG_20250712_120947.jpg
