Antirrhinum with broad, feathery leaves?

Penstemon or Salvia perhaps?

Edit: Or one of the Campanula family.

Oh, how about Linaria?

 

Not sure what you mean by feathered edges...serrated or what?

Delighted mystery has been solved!
My father always grew those Asters..about 50 years ago...lovely colours, they make fab cut flowers.
