Quite cloudy today, but it's already warm and going to get unpleasantly hot this afternoon.

We have currently around 26c, sunshine, and the forecast rain shower for tonight has gone from the radar.
The MetOffice and BBC forecast 33c for tomorrow. Others say 31c.
It will be hot all week up to next week, it might stay up to the middle of September.

Me too, but I read this morning that the High might stay for weeks. The current heat is already the death sentence for my garden. We had this abnormal behaviour of the weather patterns since March, I don’t think something will change soon.

                BBC Outlook:

Monday 24 August to Sunday 7 September
High pressure is most likely to remain through the end of August and into the first week of September.

This should mean that temperatures will stay above the seasonal average overall.

Chances of strong heat continue until early September but there will be risks of one or two temporary cooler spells as high pressure occasionally migrates southwards or into the North Atlantic.

That would bring a couple of days of lower temperatures and more unsettled weather, but at the moment there are no indications of a stronger or more prolonged cool spell. Any time this high pressure shift occurs there would be an uptick in precipitation, with northern regions of the UK most susceptible to rainfall, especially Scotland.

Driest conditions should be across the southern UK but it is most likely there will be a trend towards seasonal rainfall as high pressure probably weakens into September.

It's a hot muggy day, hardly any sunshine, but if there was it would be even hotter. It's like being in a sauna, you can sweat cobs by just sitting down ...
Even though there's hardly any sunshine it is too hot to stay outside.

Its slightly above 29c here now and has been for a few hours, not a heatwave just summer.;)
If it stuck around we would get used to it.

Very cloudy, almost thundery but nothing happening. Humid, unpleasant and very still. Just had two wood pigeons taking turns to sit, splat, in the birdbath.

Same here. Anything above 24C or so is Too Hot. Particularly when it's dry as well.

I hope the BBC is wrong!

Met Office outlook for 25 Aug to 8 Sept, slightly more optimistic for early September:
"High pressure, and therefore largely settled conditions overall, appears more likely at first. Although dry weather is likely to dominate, periods of rain or showers and thunderstorms may develop at times. Above average temperatures overall seem most likely but there may be some fresher interludes in the north at first. There remains potential for further hot spells to develop, especially in the east and south. By the turn of the month, there are signals for high pressure to become less dominant with perhaps a greater chance of some rain, though there is some uncertainty in this aspect of the forecast."

We went to 41c for three hours, now down to 40c.

I have cancelled my hair cut at 2pm tomorrow. It is only 7mins drive away but that is too much for me in this heat.
