Last of the native orchids until next March, the tiny Autumn Ladies Tresses, just coming up but struggling on the baked cliff tops with no rain for nearly two months.

Marsh Gentian, just 10 plants seen, the boggy area where they grow is drying up so I wasn't sure if there would be any at all. There could still be more to come.

Common Centaury, found on an old pit top that Nottinghamshire wildlife trust are trying to restore. There were lots of small clumps along the footpath. PXL_20250822_133952265.jpg

Red Bartsia, also found on the pit top. PXL_20250822_134810776.jpg
Makes me wonder if these plants were here before the pit and now that the area has been left alone they have come back or if the WWT has scattered some seeds.

Mossy rose gall wasp, I know it's not a wild flower but... I've seen about 6 of these this year, having never seen one before. The gall wasp must have liked the hot dry weather. PXL_20250822_140659861.jpg

I think they are a form of honey fungus CarolineL. I had similar in my previous garden growing around a dead stump and its roots.
