A three hour drive on busy roads took us to the other 'Lands End' and what was our first and only visit. I waited a long while to take the pics below because of the amount of tourists there.

With a number of so called gift shops that were each full of the same expensive and usual rubbish and a couple of cafes, again charging the earth for food (£20 for a crab roll), :thud: we abandoned the place after an hour.

Stopped off at Wick to eat on the journey home which was also a disappointment, much of it was scruffy and run down. Lesson learned and never again. :frown:

It's a pity such places get ruined by commercialism

I went to Lands End once, again a nightmare of a place, I get the impression that tourism is pretty awful these days .

Perhaps better off season, I'd never even bother doing a trip down the local coast during the school holidays.

That whole area of scotland is quite a depressing place to visit. Only really good for the ferry to Orkney

I've been to lands end a couple of times as my grandparents lived on the lizard so it was fairly close. It's a lot better than John o groats but there's many places better to visit in Cornwall.

I would normally visit those types of places off season, but we took family visiting us from England.

I'm hoping to do that next year @Hanglow. :)

I visited Lands End decades ago and despite the commercialism of both places, there was a little more to see there.

This is a tree in the park that took me a while to figure out.
Never seen it flower so well as this year.

The pictures don't do it justice.
Japanese pagoda tree, it's still Sophora japonica to me.

Reference to Giant Haystacks made me think of the 70's wrestler.

Another local walk today. The drought has had an effect on the bracken and birch trees which are all distinctly yellow.
