When I visited Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens, Penzance recently, I popped into Surreal Succulents to check out some intergeneric hybrids they claim to have produced, x Semponium. These are supposed to be hybrids of Sempervivum and Aeonium. The only differences I could see were a) the x Semponium leaves were more rounded and b) the prices. Aeonium 'Velour' Aeonium 'Voodoo' x Semponium 'Destiny' I'm not a botanist or anything, but I can't say I am convinced. What thinks you guys?
I see you've already posted on another forum in their recent thread on these. That thread is worth a read as are the links. Overall I'm not convinced by them and would rather spend my money on some interesting Sempervivum cultivars.
#NigelJ I don't know if it will work, but this is a link to the thread. https://www.pushingtheborders.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=1518
Some time ago I had 3 different Semponiums in pots. I kept them in the cold frame in winter (no greenhouse). As far as I remember they all got eaten by snails - I wouldn't recommend them. Also they never grew very much in the time I had them.
