@Jiffy, don't even think about the concept of flush apps on your phone. :hate-shocked: Before we know it, those of us without smart phones will be unable to use the facilities ... assuming we were allowed to park our car in the first place without some wretched app in order to get near the toilets!

I was round a friends house a few weeks ago and he said I'll turn the waterfall into the pond off, out came his phone and within a minute he'd turned it off, I noticed whole load of things on the phone that he could control with it.

            Didn't spot a toilet flush though.

@pete there's a whole lot of technology out there that we never realised we needed. Internet connected fridges, washing machines, kettles!! Yes kettles. They only take about 2 minutes to boil so why the **** do need to be able to switch it on before you get home?

As I suspected @ViewAhead the name Kieth/Keith is of Scottish origin which explains the spelling...

...The name "Kieth" is of Scottish origin and is derived from the Gaelic name "Ceiteach," meaning "woodland" or "forest." It is a variant spelling of the more common name "Keith." Individuals with the name Kieth are often described as creative, intuitive, and independent. They possess a strong connection to nature and are known for their ability to adapt to various situations.

When I was at the UEA (university of East Anglia for Shiney), they had sex symbols on the toilet doors in the pub. The short version is very few people seemed to know what the symbol for men or women was and it became a bit of a free for all. I remember senor and senorita had a similar response, which question the level of academic achievement to get in.

A small parcel I ordered from America took just four days to arrive in Scotland. Having arrived at the Royal Mail sorting office in Edinburgh two days ago, it was sent onto Inverness. It arrived in our local sorting office in Dingwall yesterday. Then it all went wrong. Our postman has failed to deliver to our address yet again and posted it at the right number in our village but on the wrong road - as per usual. For some reason he doesn't read the address, just the postcode. This has been pointed out to him personally in the past, also reported to Royal Mail. After a phone call to Royal Mail again (a 40 minute wait for them to answer), we now have to wait and see whether they can retrieve it tomorrow. The house it's supposedly been delivered too is a rental and we can't be sure anyone is living there.

It begs the question, what is the point of a postcode when its necessary to check the address to deliver it to the right property, and the post person can't be bothered to check? And... why was the parcel delivered so quickly when it takes normal letter post the best part of two weeks to arrive from America and three weeks plus from Canada. None of it makes sense!

I often get letters for someone with the same house number but a different road.

I get the impression it's to do with the sorting and the person delivering only looking at numbers.

The post code is different in the other road in this case.

Things should be better in Ireland, where each house has its own Eircode (postcode). And it usually works, when people bother to put the eircode on the letter, but it's a newish scheme so many folk don't see the advantage in using it. And some delivery companies assume, for instance, that because most codes beginning with V94 (like ours) refer to addresses in Limerick, they'll all be in Limerick. We're 20 miles away in County Clare, so sometimes the delivery bloke just gives up. Apparently if the company used Google Earth, which would give the exact location, they'd have to pay...

Our "lieu-dit" address became a number and road name at least 12 years ago but not all satellite systems have updated. Delivery drivers using google maps on their phones end up at the other end of the road, 1500m/1 mile away. Fine if they have our mobile phone number and we're not in the garden......

Others go the wrong way at the crossroads 300m away and deliver to the right number in the wrong lane because they follow their satnav and then guess instead of reading road names.

Our regular post lady has been kind enough to fish our post and parcels out of the wrong post box for us if we phone her before her rounds get to us. Posties here have universal keys to fit all post boxes which are situated at gates, rather than front doors.
