    Hi there

I have a dark purple bush which was planted very close to my front wall. It flowers about twice a year if memory serves me right and the flowers are a lighter pink which I think are fluted. It also dies back every winter to just the branches which are grey and woody. I'd firstly like to see if anyone can help identify the plant. I include a photo I took from my living room window but more photos can be taken if required. The second thing is advice re: pruning as I will have to cut it right back as I'm having my property re-roughcast and the bush will need to be pruned for proper access. It's a real shame but it needs to be done. I hope that if will survive a radical cut back. Thanks for any help identifying and pruning advice.

It's hard to tell through the window, but I think it's possibly one of the dark-leaved forms of Weigela.

Thanks for that Jenny. I think that you may well have hit the bullseye with your suggested Weigela. From Googling it appears that my bush is one.
