Clouding over now after a sunny start. We have a breeze and 25C and, surprise surprise, no wet stuff.

Friday's rain forecast has gone from 5cm to 4.3mm over 10 hours so isn't going to wet anyone's whistle. Weekend set to be dry and they seem to think next week will be wet and bring 5cm over 5 days. I'm sticking at being Doubting Thomas till I see it with my own eyes.

The forecast is showers :hapydancsmil: but won't hold my breath as we haven't had rain this month apart from a just a few minutes of very light drizzle.

The wind is picking up strongly and I have come indoors for a short while as the farmer is harrowing the field behind us and the wind is blowing clouds of dust towards us. The field is about half a mile wide and a mile, or more long. he started at the other side of the field and is now quite close so I hope he will have finished in about five minutes.

I was picking beans and courgettes and only got half way through the courgettes and shall then pick up windfall apples for which I shall need to wear a hard hat because of the strong wind.

Nothing yet :frown:. The rain that was forecast for earlier seems to have gone around us (as usual, pennine areas getting the lion's share).

It wellied down at half past three :hapfeet:, for about 5 minutes. Now the sun's back out. 4mm in the gauge, two water butts each half-filled, but it won't have done a vast deal below the surface of the soil. Hope there's more to come.

The last shower at 4 made the difference. It lasted only 10 minutes but the butts have each 7cm water, which is around 4l per sqm.

Good heavy shower at around lunchtime today. Walked home in the sunshine and was too hot in my rain coat. Got some more black clouds gathering now.

A good couple of hours of fairly heavy rain this morning, things are already looking fresher. The dry grassy bits are still rock hard and actually had some water standing on the surface during the rain.
                          Tonight fairly mild 15°C.
                          Maybe more showers tomorrow.

                            Yes :hapfeet:
Even if it wasn’t long, but hopefully that opens the gates tomorrow.

Just heard on ITV Meridian weather:
“On Saturday, the threat of rain, in some parts heavy rain”

Seriously, the weather chaps need to change their scripts. After almost 6 months of drought describing rain as a threat, it’s unbelievable. :wallbanging:
