I have two roses in our garden and would love an identification if at all possible. The previous owners had some nice plants and shrubs but the garden was left to its own devices by tenants for about six years resulting in it being overrun with brambles, buddleia, cotoneaster, Japanese honeysuckle (halliana?) rose of sharon and Himalayan honeysuckle. We are now moving and I wonder whether to try and propagate the roses?

I inherited them with the garden and I estimate they are over ten years old, probably much older. They both form lax shrubs with quite thin stems about 3ft high with small very shiny green leaves and small single or semi double blooms. One is bright pink and the other is white. Neither of them seem to have any scent which is a disappointment. The pink one has dense clusters of flowers, the white one smaller clusters. Both colours of bloom are about 2 - 3 inches across, the white one opening much flatter than the pink one which seems to be semi-double or double variable.

    Can anyone help please?

The white one looks to me like White Flower Carpet, which I have here. A amazingly tough little rose with a very long flowering season - April through till Christmas, usually. Sold to me as ground cover but is now about 3 feet high. There is a pink Flower Carpet too, could this be what the second rose is?
