    This month's RHS The Garden has a whole feature on sowing hardy annuals now. Basically anything such as Poppy , Nigella, Scabious, Foxglove etc. Anything thst sets and disperses seed naturally at this time. Can be direct sown if you have space and a way of remembering what's where!!

      Thank you @Allotment Boy that reminds me I need to sow the opium poppy seed I harvested in the flower beds as over the years they've migrated to the veg plot.
      My copy of the Garden not arrived yet, The Plant Review has arrived though.
      Also need to sow some green manure on the sections that were dug over today.

      I'm going to sow some more seed than usual at this time of year. I don't often bother as it's not worthwhile - spring sown usually catches up and/or germinates better anyway [sown indoors] but the changing climate means it's worth doing both in case winter and spring are warmer, and plants can do better and go out slightly earlier.
      I've got some new plants to try, so I'll check timings and do both where possible. I also have poppy seed so might do it with them.
