There are some things you shouldn't use rechargeable batteries for.
Check the voltage, it's usually slightly lower than ordinary non rechargeable ones.

As @pete said they have a slightly lower voltage then the standard non rechargeable ones; they also have different discharge characteristics. The voltage tends to start where your device expects it to be, but then falls away quite steeple before entering a long plateau just below where a non rechargeable would sit.
Can also depend on the component tolerances in the device as to whether the plateau voltage is acceptable to the device.
I had exactly the same problem with my wireless thermostat a couple of years ago.

I've listened to music on youtube a few times but to be honest I'd rather put on a CD, it's easier.
I've also used it to look up some art and crafts but they're so unprepared for making the 'film' (or whatever it's called) and they faff around and it gets on my nerves. I'd rather look things up in a book.
If you're going to do a demonstration surely you need to prepare first !

A lot of them are very professional these days, they make a full-time living out of it.

My current addiction is a channel called "Talks of Thailand". This consists of a guy walking around streets somewhere in Thailand, reading out accounts people send him of their experiences retiring there. There's a lot of very similar stories - man retires to Thailand attracted by the notorious night life and/or the cheap cost of living, marries a bar girl, for various reasons loses all his money and has to go home again. So it's fun playing the Thailand Bingo game as you listen - she wants him to build a house in her village? tick that one off. And you don't need the visuals, so I often listen to it as I'm going to sleep. It doesn't matter much if you miss the ending!

I agree, @Michael Hewett, some of the instruction videos faff about for 10;mins before giving you the 30 seconds you need. I guess they do it to get some ad breaks in as that ups their revenue.

They may make a living out of it but they faff around and have obviously not done any preparation. I think if they want to do something for a living they should put more effort into it.

They don't all "faff around"; the ones that make a living out of it wouldn't do so if they didn't get a lot of followers and subscribers. The more amateur ones usually get a lot of complaining comments about the faffing.

Plus, you can always use fast forward to get to the bit you're interested in.

The videos that get the most "likes" usually have comments praising the efficiency at delivering the information. Plus I never start watching a video without checking the length. If it's half an hour for something simple I know not to bother!

Short, efficient videos are nowadays in TikTok.

I thought it was just beautiful Korean popstars doing dance moves called something like "flossing" or similar, but in fact apparently it's a full world in there.

A colleague who is at least apparently a perfectly normal middle aged person, follows an Excel guru in TikTok and is fascinated by his 30 second videos showing something amazing in Excel. :noidea:

A lot of them are video of people who are just after air time, the knowledge can be lacking, but it's all there for you to sort through, if it sounds like waffle at the beginning it's probably going to be waffle right through, so I just move onto the next one.

You can find regular uploaders that you like and often once you give them a like you get offered more of their video or you can subscribe.
Either way it's up to you what you watch, unlike normal TV where you have to watch what they offer or nothing.

There is some truely great content on youtube but it can be very hard to find. Unfortunately the worst stuff is the most popular and many who actually share knowledge just give up.
Unless it's changed recently, videos with adverts throughout are because the maker has reached a level where they choose to monetise the vid. You still get adverts at the beginning if they haven't taken this option but there are various options for how they can make money, beyond view count, such as sponsorship.

To be honest (and many will disagree but I don't care) I find books easier.
Listening to people irritates me, and I know they write the books but I can browse through a book at my own pace, and it's always there when I want it, instead of having to sit looking at someone on a screen and then it disappears.
(and I know it can be saved but I'm not very good with gadjets, and it would take me ages to find it again)
But if that's what you like, do it ... as my late partner Beryl used to say, 'Paddle your own canoe' ...

My heating is 40 yrs old, I helped my BiL install it, had a new boiler about 25 yrs ago so still basically a new one:biggrin:
It has no pressure, it has no pipes to freeze in cold weather, it has no batteries in the thermostat, it just kind of works.

Must admit the rads need looking at but scared to get anyone in as they will say it all needs replacing and give me a bill for about 6 grand, or more.
