Hi everyone, I'm looking at different greengage varieties picking times and trying to decide what is the best late season one.

According to different online sources, the Old Greengage harvesting times are around the begging/middle of August in the UK, depending on the weather conditions. Cambridge Gage is pretty similar. Willingham Gage is fruiting towards the middle/end of August and Lindsey Gage is ready towards the end of August or the begging of September in different years.

Can anyone confirm these picking times from experience, and also if there are any other late varieties and how they compare taste wise? Thanks

I'd be interested too - seriously considering buying a gage this bare root season.

We have 2 but can't remember one of the names. The main one is Reine Claude D'Oullins but sometimes called a plum. Yes it fruited in August but this year was the first time in 10 years we had enough fruit to call it a harvest.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my question, much appreciated. D'Oullins sounds great but I was looking for a variety that fruits in September, as we usually go on a holiday in August (kids still in school, so no way around it).
