My partner used to be a cardiologist and she says that she would get a patient who might need a stent which is half a day but wasn't allowed to do it but sometime later this patient would come in after a heart attack and be in hospital for weeks

Shooting has become a normal event. I thought I would have a leisurely walk up the shops as it was a lovely sunny morning. Our shops are just under a mile away. A lady rushed over to me just before I got there to say there had been a shooting. It seems 5 shots were heard coming from the gym, which is above our small Sainsbury's. The main road is still cordoned off to traffic now and we have been told to avoid the area. We'll I was up there anyway and it was very quiet in Sainsbury's and I did my shopping as usual. You can sometimes hear people dropping their dumbells in Sainsbury's - loud thud in the roof. I asked the shop assistant and she was tight lipped about what was going on and what she heard from above.

The police haven't said there is a gunman on the loose, but someone was shot. Maybe he's still in the gym. I expect it will be on our local news, which is usually rather boring! When I go up the road hubby always says be careful crossing the road. Well maybe it should be dodge the bullets :ouch1:.

Goodness me @cactus_girl , that sounds appalling. Hope it gets sorted soon and that the victim survives.

I thought you were referring to pheasant/rabbit shooting! We're used to that round here so don't take any notice.

Sorry to hear about your daughter's problems @fairygirl, do hope the medics can do something to ease the pain and discomfort.

My (slight) moan of the day is that I've just been told we are going to have another Zebra crossing in the village - that will make five on the main road within about 3/4's of a mile. I do understand it's needed and at least the Council are installing it in the very place we all suggested it should be more than 5 years ago. The traffic through the village is incredible compared to how
it was when we moved in 18 years ago and although we have a 20mph limit, it's usually ignored.
I do have to put my hand up here and say I do as well, my car just does not like going up a very steep hill in 2nd gear at 20 mph but manages it at 23-25mph.

A relative who lives in Stockholm reports that he frequently hears gunfire in the evenings. A friend of his came home from shopping to find a hole in the window of his apartment, and a bullet lodged in the wall opposite. Apparently there are a lot of rival gangs fighting over their drug dealing territories.

Yes that's us @Ergates! It happened just to the left of picture. There is drug dealing here as we've seen it. The victim may not be innocent of course.

I read yesterday in a newspaper that a swan centre in Dorset had to be closed because of H5N1, commonly called Birdflu.
What is not mentioned here in the news is that currently thousands of thousands of cranes while on their way back to Africa drop death from the sky in Germany.
This doesn't affect only cranes but all other birds.
I do hope a few cranes make it back to Africa and survive. And this just when the crane population had recovered so well.

Mr. Trump claiming to have ended yet another "war" - this time the border dispute between Thailand and Cambodia. All involving trade and tariffs of course but hardly "peace" unless the borders are re drawn to both sides satisfaction. Good for him if he has been able to stop things for a while but as with Russia and Israel, no permanent solution which leads to cessation. I'd recommend a Pretend Peace Prize which he could be given just to shut him up for a while :wallbanging:

Perhaps somebody got 3d print him one, gold coloured plastic, some extra spangly bits and a nice tinselly ribbon.

I did find it funny the other day when someone said that if anyone could make him understand tariffs, then they should be awarded the Nobel prize for economics.
