I wish I had a larder @On the Levels ! I've a modern kitchen/diner, and it's surprising how many cupboards get taken up with pans etc. I did try putting jars of jam at the backs of all the other stuff - but then forgot about them!

@CarolineL we have one of the old fashion drying clothes rack that is up above the units and this is where most of the pots hang so not in the larder or cupboards.

late baking for us this sunday, but just off to make another quiche for tea using some pasley and thyme from garden. Today or tomrrow will make my xmas boozy mincemeat, usng up last of apples from garden and some of my damson gin to use up..nice damson gin, never made it before, but will have to use it with soda water etc as a bit too strong for us. Will also make this afternoon chive butter that we make in small pots to freeze..we like them spread on cheese crackers and also on baked potatoes during the winter. l have lots of chives dotted around the garden and in patio pots, as we use a lot in cooking/baking/salads. Its just starting to die down so will harvest this for last time l think.

Used some of one of the pumpkins today to make soup for tomorrow. Used onions, garlic and parsley from the garden as well.
Then more of the pumpkin is roasting in the oven as I type for eating later.
I am actually glad that the warm spell for so long stopped them becoming too big!

just sorting out what im baking today, as Sunday mornings are my baking days. l always like to do a buffet tea for sundays, then just let everyone help themselves to what iv made. Im making use of the last of the mint in the garden, so making a mediterian quiche for tea tonight, has mint chives and toms in it along with eggs ham and cheese, So will use up 6 cherry toms l can see that have rippened on windowsill. still got 6 greenones that im sure will rippen buy nk week baking day. Also making a mint potato apple salad to go with it, and a green garden salad ie chard, sorrel and baby cab leaves and any other green salads l can find..i did see if got some nastumn leaves so ll collect and chop the lot in put into a salad dressing. iv got loads still of garden mixed berrys in the freezer so found a easy recipes for mix berry cake..says it can be frozen after being cooked so l think l'll make a few of those to use the berries up and can freez the cakes up to 2months. All a bit of a summer menu but l want to make use of the last of the herb hervests from the garden. Think ll do a hot honey basted chicken legs as well to make it a bit of a warmer meal for tonights buffet tea.

We collected 6kg of chaenoneles quinces from our neighbours bushes, and a lovely couple elsewhere in the village let me pick cydonia quinces from their huge tree, I filled up a backpack with 10kg. My dad and I have been working hard for a few days to process it all.
We have made: Quince wine, quince membrillo, quince liqueur and quince leather :ccheers:

A lot of work but its enough for a year for us, and our neighbours and the quince sources will get plenty too.

We have very little edibles growing apart from the herb garden and the apples. We are still cooking down about 100lb of apples a week and freezing them and selling the rest of the fantastic harvest this year.

The herbs are still growing like mad and the bay tree has been getting out of hand so have been giving it a good pruning and giving away about over 100 x 3ft branches in the last couple of weeks. I don't know what use people make of them but we use a reasonable amount in stews and soups. They also make good skewers for barbecue meats.

We have also filled six large jars with fennel seeds and people at my clubs will bring small containers to decant them into. We don't use them much at all and I don't know what others use them for.

Everyone usually puts donations in our charity box.

making chicken cooked in thyme, sage , green apple slices & cider apple sauce for tonight, herbs dried garden earlier in the yr. if l have any fresh thyme still in garden, will use that with fresh pasley on some roast potates , and some frozen sprouts. We love our herbs as chives, mint, parsely has lots of vit c so we like to have a high vit c diet this time of yr to help keep colds/flu away. Bit late to put in slow cooker so will bake it as only takes 45 mins and while oven on will make some biscuits for the week.

fruit leather is basically boiled down fruit until its very thick, then add a bit of sugar, spread it thin on a sheet and dehydrate it. its like dried fruit puree.

i think its sold as a childrens snack, sometimes without added sugar but with another preservative. it being dry and acidic stops mould
