We have recently bought a TP-Link router for just under £16. We don't use one provided by Plusnet and I don't think we ever have.

I'm currently stuck with BT as I use btinternet.com e-mail addressed. I'll have to get round to moving all that lot before I start looking at alternative broadband providers. I have to say that I've never had any problems with BT internet apart from when a passing lorry with ladders sticking up took out the phone lines. I can't blame BT for that.

I think you can leave BT internet, but keep the email addy for a fee of about £8 a month, @KT53. That certainly used to be the case.

@ViewAhead I've just checked, it's currently £7.50 per month, so thanks for jogging my memory. It would certainly be easier than shifting everything, but I wonder how long it would be before then increased the cost. Decisions, decisions.

            Extortion.
I've moved all my e mails to G mail over the last couple of years so that I can dump Virgin without too much hassle.

The added complication of moving from BT is the Discovery + and TNT Sport package. That's £20 per month but £33 per month from Discovery+ directly. My brain is starting to hurt.

I think that's their cunning plan, @KT53. Bamboozle with options.

Personally, I would not spend that to keep an email box, @pete, but it is a good option for some.

There seems to be a Microsoft outage again? Just spent an hour doing my ASDA online shop, but can't pay. My slot has now expired and I have no copy of my shopping list. I wonder if my trolley will still be there when it resolves. Other places affected too it seems. What a waste of time.

OH and I moved to gmail some years ago and Possum has always been gmail. They both do emailing via Google but I like Microsoft Outlook as it allows me to file emails for easy retrieval afterwards. I have folders for the patch club and gardening club as well as personal ones for friends, household stuff, shopping and so on. Pure gmail doesn't allow that as far as I can see.

I'm not sure but there is something called, 'create more labels', in G mail, I assume you can open something like a new category to put certain emails under.

                          Thanks @pete.

Not exactly intuitive using "Labels" instead of "Folders" but I shall explore. However, Outlook is part of the package that includes Excel and Word, both of which I need for proceesing patch club data so Outlook is safe for the next 3 years. After that I my decide not to pay the license fee anymore.

Yes, I have Office 365 and got an email assuring me everything would be okay for 3 years more. I think by then I'll need a new computer anyway so really, it's neither her nor there to me. Outlook does keep my various address mailings nicely organized and I've been using that application now for as long as it has existed. I believe that it was available somewhere in the late 90's.

I have several addresses that are carried through my Bell Canada internet account and which link into my Outlook.

My 3 years relate to my term of office which ends September '28 @Cana. Can't see me standing again as it's a 90km round trip and I'm already past my 3 score years and 10 and may not want to do it every Monday.

Aha. I could never do without Microsoft Office! For my own and business use. Office 365 updates all modules without me touching a key. And I pay a small monthly fee for it.
