@Victoria I finally got around t taking a photo of my hibiscus. No idea of the variety as it was a cutting from a Belgian friend. There it was a light yellow in winter and more golden in summer.

Here it is golden n cool weather with a deep red centre but, when I put it outside for summer it goes rich, sunset colours. Back indoors now till next spring and loads of flower buds till Xmas.

Oh, that is stunning, a multi petal. And so many blooms at one time! They can change colour with temperature. I have a yellow one that goes orange in the cold.

Here is my peach multi (some blooms are just singles) and it appears it has dark red in the centre.

I need help / advice here please.

I got these cuttings of Swan Lake / Fantasia from Madeira Exotics mid October (for the second time, having failed miserably the first time. I keep the soil moist and this is how they are today ...

                  Hib Swan Lake1 10 Nov 25 .jpg
                  Hib Swan Lake2 10 Nov 25.jpg

I looked yesterday ... and there are no roots!!! What am I doing wrong? and what should I do to remedy the problem? I think first time I tried in water so hence now in compost.

                  Any advice/suggestions greatly welcomed.

Hi @Victoria I'd have started them in a very gritty mix, so the roots grow out. It looks like you've been keeping that very wet. Not sure whether to dare moving them in that state, but I'd let them dry more between waterings. Since so many are shooting, you could try moving a couple and leave the rest alone.

Keep them warm and humid, once the soil dries out a bit more put a plastic bag over them but try not to let it touch the new leaves, three small sticks taller than the cuttings would help with that.
I often cover with a large jar, or just a jam jar for single cuttings.

@CarolineL Thank you for your response. The compost is very black so I think looks wetter than it actually is. But It did cross my mind that if you can root them in water, moist compost would be okay. I will let it dry out and put some grit in it. I would hate to lose them all.

I have a 6-litre water jug cut to fit over it ... especially with our supposed rain coming.

Well I know its warmer where you are but I noticed your temperatures are dropping, I'm rooting cuttings in a propagator at 25c day and night.
Days are getting shorter as well which is not good.
