When there’s not many couples left it seems a bit unfair to skip a week.

So no elimination this week. Just as well now that La Voix has had to pull out, otherwise there could be a very depleted final.

I enjoyed the Blackpool special, it seemed to pass very quickly, probably due to the lack of one couple.

I thought Karen and Carlos' paso was amazing (although very dark, I was peering through the gloom at times). Her spin on the floor seemed to go on for a very long time.

I don't know just how much tango was in Balvinder's dance, but that may have been down to the fact that "The Logical Song " is my OH's all time favourite and I was watching his reaction to see what he would make of it. He seemed to think it was OK .

I am worried about Alex Kingston. She seems tired and I hadn't realised that she'd been through so much health wise comparatively recently. I think she might be next to leave.

The opening Charleston, very impressive. If they don't get to the final I will eat my hat.
George is still in with a chance as well, if only down to his charm.

As for Amber and Nikita, sorry but they still leave me cold.
I love Nikita and was very touched that his parents were there to see him dance at Blackpool, but Amber just seems to be learning by rote. There's no genuine enjoyment, it's all "performance" imo.

PS I see Scarlet Moffat is dancing in the Christmas special.
Scarlett Moffatt is the first celebrity contestant confirmed for the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special 2025

The Logical Song is just wrong for Argentine Tango which needs sultry music, preferably in a minor key. As for the dancing, it was so dark and the camera angles so shoddy we couldn't really see much but it was not my cup of tea.

Alex and Jojo's dance left me luke warm but maybe she'll get the sympathy vote.

I liked Carlos and Karen's Paso - well choreographed and performed but, somehow, not endearing.

The two chaps did very well this week and I hope they go on but Amber just looks like she's going thru a performance without understanding or feeling the dance or the music. Airhead.

I feel sorry for Aljaz missing out but don't think La Voix would have lasted much longer anyway.

No idea who Scarlett is as Strictly, Bake Off and Sewing Bee are the only "reality" TV shows I watch, being someone who likes dancing, baking/cooking and sewing.

I enjoyed last night’s performances. I agree the music choice was wrong for Argentine Tango. The music can make or break a dance imo. Presumably they’ve known no dance off so they can fill tonight’s show with something else. Hopefully group and professional dances rather than singers.

I know they are doing a dance involving Danny Mac, Ashley Roberts, Leighton Williams and Jay McGuiness, showing some of their highlights from previous years, but I think this was planned beforehand @AuntyRach .

I'm looking forward to seeing how Jay gets on with recreating his famous jive. I can't believe that it's 10 years since he won with Aliona.
I remember they came back to do it again the following year and he was half dead by the end .

Danny Mac's samba was another favourite. I hope it doesn't disappoint.

2016. Where does the time go ?

A feature writer for one of the national dailies summed up the problems with Strictly pretty accurately for me.
It started off as a platform for those with no dance experience to show how they could develop over the series and was a true, fair competition although personality still played a part. Since then it has changed to a totally unfair situation where you have people who have, and still, make a living as professional dancers up against people who would be delighted to have two left feet.

On a positive note, it's one more programme to cross off my Christmas viewing list.

I may be in the minority, but I enjoyed the chaos and confusion of the Instant Dance. In some ways it reminded me of the very early days of Strictly when no one seemed completely sure of what it was all about.
Claudia may be "Marmite" to people, but there's no doubt that she is a master at dealing with the uncertainty of live TV.

                  SPOILER BELOW.

I was sorry to see Alex leave, but she'd clearly reached the end of the road in terms of her energy, and was limping badly on Saturday night.
Poor Balvinder, yet another dance off. Those shoes looked dreadful, which didn't help imo.
I suspect Johannes' speech means that he is leaving.

Yes, I thought the Instant Dance was going to be too difficult and probably just embarrassing, but it was good fun!
I too would have liked Alex to stay, especially as it seemed she would be doing Cabaret in musicals week. But she seemed quite relieved and I think she'd peaked.
And I wondered about Johannes' speech too...
In fact I agree with all your points :), except that I loved Balvinder's shoes!

Alex looked in pain and had hinted that would be relieved to go. I enjoyed her and Johannes together.

I loved the instant dance! A bit of fun and much better than I thought.

Karen for the win! … but she will have to dodge some of the others who clearly know dancing already.

As simply appearing in front of a camera seems to be enough to make somebody 'a celebrity', it shouldn't be too difficult to find enough without dance experience for future series. After all many of the mainstream 'celebs' seem to manage without any other discernible talent.

I thought Alex's first go at the cha-cha was truly awful and their Instant dance was dull but I suspect Johannes realised thet Alex was burned out and didn't push her.

I don't think Balvinder's jive was very good and those red shoes made her feet look heavy but I loved the way she attacked her instant Paso.

Everyone else did very well, even that airhead, and I enjoyed the Instant feature - entertaining chaos.

One of the best bits for me was Aljaz and co's dance to Wicked Game. Beautifully sung, choreographed and danced.
