None of those affect us as we never buy anything in Sales and rarely buy anything at all apart from food. In over 60 years of marriage we just find that we're more interested in getting rid of 'stuff'.

As I understand it, Amazon fire sticks and smart tvs can get Freeview, but not Freely. Freely is only available via specific Freely smart tvs or a Pleio puck. When Freeview eventually gets discontinued, not before 2034, Freely will fill the gap. By then, it might be available on regular smart tvs and via fire sticks.

      :)

        Sorry, never heard of Freely.

It's pretty new. :) The Pleio puck, to turn a regular TV into a Freely one, only hit the market last Friday, and Freely TVs are thin on the ground, generally confined to cheapish models and not yet integrated by the quality manufacturers.

Many will probably disagree with me but I don't care: Don't have dozens of children if you can't support them.

Regarding benefit payments I've a family member who gets £3000 a month I don't know if that's 12 or 13 months, when they got last month's money first thing they did was getting another tattoo each

we live (2 people) on half that amount per month, may be i should look into claiming benefits then i'd be better off,

I do wonder how many don't tell the truth on the forms

Each to their own with how they spend their money. However, I still pay tax there and object to that kind of "benefit". Don't they work like I/we have done our lives?

I don't agree with them getting so much I'm 64 and was out the house this morning at 0430 going to work whilst they lay in bed. They claim £450 a month for a child with autism who doesn't cost anymore to keep than any child

Smart TVs can get Freeview as they get it over the aerial connection. Amazon fire sticks do not get Freeview, you have to use the individual apps for each of the channels e.g. iPlayer, ITVX.

The problem is though that peoples' situations change. Most single mothers don't plan for that to happen. I was brought up by a single mother because my dad ran off with another woman, he paid absolutely laughable maintenance too.

Sometimes a couple have three or four children when they are doing well and then illness, redundancy or death hits them.

@mac12 I assumed at first that you had made a typo error and you had meant £300 rather than £3 k per month. That is really quite astounding and even more so if they are spending money on tattoos.

I completely agree. The reason the 2 child cap was introduced, with 2 years notice, was to stop those who saw continually having kids they can't afford as an alternative to working. This change has put that option well and truly back into the options. Those with larger families will be thousands of pounds better off, with even less reason to get off their sofas and find work.

There is a big difference in functionality between Freeview and using the Amazon Fire Stick. With Freeview you can move instantly between channels. With the Firestick you have to exit one stream, return to the menu, find the new channel and then wait for it to load.
As an example, when a number of sports are shown on Freeview I can just flick between them to see what's happening. That isn't an option with the Firestick.

Agreed, but I spend most of my time binge-watching single series, so I'm not switching around like that.
