If this thread is about 'happy' then I am happy I don't live in a place like that, it just would not suit me at all

We lived in Huntsville, Alabama, and front gardens (often back gardens ) were open. I would not like it now ... a problem containing pets.

Well yes, dog walkers love to allow their pooches all over one's front lawn. Although we are in a corner position so no problem here. But in an urban environment open space is a luxury. Our open plan estate is fiercely defended. And our council has backed us.

My estate was originally like that but quite a lot of houses have now fenced or paved over their front gardens. Covenants aren't really enforceable indefinitely - I think mine also says no caravans but that's definitely not obeyed.
Mine and my attached neighbour's front gardens are both un-fenced but that's only since her fence blew down!

Covenants do go on forever. We have now been alerted to a bungalow, which the new owner (a company) is applying to change use to house a "vulnerable person" with 24 hour care. This could be an ex-offender. There is something called Supported Exempt Accommodation, which I think is due to come in next year such that if you get a licence you can put all sorts in any property. Thereby going around the HMO rules, which our council has banned without planning permission. I'm in the wrong thread here so I will be quiet now!

OK, I hot them too, and especially heart Chilterns. When we moved house it was Chilterns I contacted first to update my address, the council came second :heehee:

A couple of weeks ago I bought a soft, Brie style, cheese half goats' milk and half cows' milk. End of last week nice and runny and good in a sandwich. I had a guest for the weekend and whilst shopping with them I said don't buy any goat's cheese as there is some in the fridge. Nothing mentioned whilst they are here.
This morning I fancied a runny tasty cheese sandwich, opened the fridge, hard cheese yes, no soft cheese; checked the entire fridge a couple of cupboards the cutlery drawer no soft cheese.
Two possibilities I've gone mad and imagined everything or far worse; I have a rogue cheese hiding somewhere.
Contact guest and ask had they seen the cheese; phew yes they had; they'd eaten it Sunday morning.
So I'm happy because I might be mad, but I don't have to get the protective clothing, the nets and tongs out to catch the rogue cheese.

Something i've had on backorder for 18 months has apparently shipped. Christmas present for myself I guess.

Scanning my car radio stations I found a station that plays Christmas songs non stop. Not everyone’s cup of tea but it cheers me up.

I've never had a guest eat all of my cheese but it's usually the beer supply that takes a beating!

I do hide my Christmas cake because I never know if someone visiting might be a closet fruit cake lover... :heehee:
