No, sorry but I really dont see what the problem was with the old one.

 

I'll have to look for one of those and see if I can get on with the fat handle. It's a long way to Inverness though so I won't be going there.

 

Sorry @Plantminded. I did that so it was easier to make the blade length comparison.

I did explain earlier @pete that the blade is so old and thin now it won't be long before it breaks.

 

I'd offer to get one for you @JennyJB but I don't suppose I'd be allowed to send it through the post.

That reminds me of a problem I had a few years ago. I wanted to send a Sgian Dubh (a small Scottish knife) to my son in America for his 40th birthday, along with a family heirloom, unique watch. I bought the knife and parcelled both together at home with the intention of sending them recorded or registered delivery. I took them to the post office and they refused the parcel because of the knife. What to do now! I went back to the shop where I'd bought the knife and explained the situation. They said not a problem, we'll send both for you as exports from our company. They waived the cost of sending along with the insurance, so the parcel went free of charge.
