I went to my nearest little town yesterday, and decided to have a coffee in a nice cafe before returning home.
As I sat there, a lady went up to the counter, and the waitress said to her "Hi Linda, what are you having today bird ?" .... Bird ! :heehee: I've never heard anyone being called that before :heehee:
Around here they call you 'Boy' or 'Wass' (derived from Gwas - Welsh for servant) or sometimes 'Mate' , and in Swansea they call you 'Doll' :yikes: but I've never heard 'bird' before !

Today our village garden club had a bring and share lunch. Great to catch up with those in the club that as garden visits to each have stopped you don't actually see many. Great lunch.
Then we dropped off some cards and fruits to friends and then went to top up the cider container. A real pity that they are not going to continue making cider or vinegar but the owner gave us an invitation for the garden club to visit the orchards in the Spring when they are in full bloom. We have seen this and it is magical. So will pass the message onto the committee. We believe that their apples will be harvesting by another local cider maker. We did have a great chat with the owner. Lovely man and so down to earth.

            My day so far !
I had a form pushed in my letterbox on Friday, saying I had to pay £5 for delivery of something because the sender hadn't paid enough, and I'm waiting for a delivery so decided to pay for it.

I tried for an hour, without success, to pay for it on line - the Royal Mail website would not accept my payment for some undisclosed reason .
Then I tried phoning them but after several minutes of listening to a babbling robot, I was told there was an hour waiting time before they'd answer.

SO I went through the rain (which is torrential this morning by the way) to the sorting office in the little town down the road, to see if I could get some sense.
After many minutes and many rings of their bell on the wall, a man came and to the counter and told me it was a Christmas card that someone hadn't put a stamp on, so I decided not to have it and save £5.
I only exchange cards with 15 people so I'll go through them and find out who's missing, and then I'll know who the unpaid for card was from

            It's a good job I didn't pay on line !

And now my computer is playing up, the little arrow thing (I'm sure it's got a name but I don't know what it is ... and I don't care !) refuses to move until I close the lid and open it again after a few minutes,
And it keeps opening tabs I don't want without me clicking on them,
And it keeps deleting my typed words - it's taken 10 mins to type this !

I'm going away now, and I'm going to finish painting the wall around my fireplace because it's been plaster coloured for 18 months and looks horrible, and they can stick their technology

I quite agree @Michael Hewett ,technology does stink. Royal Mail are a law unto themselves these days, they have definitely gone downhill. I have had various issues with them recently and now just hope that if anyone sends us anything, they won’t use RM. We only get one post per week now, parcels take priority. Aye, right. What happens if you’re waiting on an important letter? They are so unreliable now.

As for technology. Well, if I hadn’t been reading a thread on here I would have been non the wiser about the imminent( albeit it may be years yet for some) that 2G is getting turned off, maybe 3 too? I am about to embark on a discussion with Virgin Media about the 2 sims I am paying for and was going to cancel the more expensive one and opt for the cheaper one I was offered this year. However, when I delved into the details I discovered it was only a 2 GB SIM and as our signal is carp here( intentional spelling mistake) and for what you get with 2 GB I have decided to not use the cheaper 2GB one. However, I had told them I wanted to cancel the more expensive one so need to get in touch, after reading info here, that I want to cancel the cancellation. Wish me luck!

I’ve just realised that this post should be on the Have a Moan thread…..
              oops.

              …..

Maybe mine too but I was only saying about my day so far
I don't look at the moan thread, it gets too political and boring.

                I don't know what 2GB etc means ...
