I have no idea what Wordle is!

Hubby is always doing The Times crossword and when he gets really stuck he asks me to look up the answer on Dan Word. So I say what's the point in doing it anyway? I just don't have the time or patience.

Wordle is very quick. You get 6 guesses at a 5 letter word. A correct letter in the correct place goes green. A correct letter in the wrong place goes orange. Takes seconds. :)

Connections is a bit tougher. You have to organise 16 words into 4 groups, but are only allowed 3 errors.

I’m using something called Wordle unlimited. Can play as many times as I like during the day. There are a couple of ads appear at the beginning, but I can push them down out of sight, so not a bother. The Sudoku I play appears to be linked to The Independent, there is an ad to watch, I just look away until the skip advert button appears, then it’s all peaceful. I like doing the daily Codeword on the Saga magazine website, but I don’t think much of their on line crosswords.

I also do the hard totaliser on the Sky News page. Keeps me up to speed with my mental arithmetic. I consider I have done well if I complete it in under a minute and a half. If it includes dividing by 17, that tends to slow me down a tad. We stopped at 12x12 in primary school and anything above that will never be automatic for me.

I've just had a call 'on behalf of British Gas'. We had a leak from the boiler about a year ago and they replaced a part. The engineer did a full service at the same time and said that although the boiler is over 15 years old it's still in great condition and good for a few more years yet. A few days ago I notice that the boiler pressure was low, but couldn't remember how to increase it. Engineer came and fixed that in a few minute.
The call today was one of those 'Woe, woe, and thrice woe' calls trying to tell me that the boiler is useless and I need to replace it. When I tried to tell the caller what the engineer said at the last service, she simply continued talking over me. Obviously working from a prepared script and worried about losing their place. I thanked them for their concern, said I had no current plans to replace the boiler, and hung up.

Made myself a bowl of cereal with a nectarine and some prunes, with skimmed milk. Very healthy. Sat down to enjoy it, and realised I’d forgotten to put any cereal in.

Mine just doesn't appear correctly. The entry boxes are very small (less than half the size they used to be) but when you enter letters they appear much bigger than the boxes. When you get past the third line your new entries are then behind the keyboard so you can't see what you've put and, more importantly, you can't see how successful your entry has been, so you can't complete the game.

It was fine last week and is still ok on my laptop so I'm guessing it's an Android-specific phone thing. Funnily enough it's still ok on my wife's Android phone but hers is a much later version. But I think my problem is just the thin end of the wedge and more problems are likely to follow on other platforms.

Hmm, this is the trouble with technology. Upgrades cause older items to become dysfunctional. :gaah:

I wouldn't go with British Gas if they were the only supplier... Those charlatans robbed me of just over £400 about 25 years ago and I've never forgiven them for it.

I took the plunge and did the update on my new phone, reasoning that as I haven’t got used to it yet, it can’t mess it up too much. It didn’t take that long, and I can’t see any difference. However, it is now offering me another update, two days later! I decided to look up the details and list of benefits. Apparently I will be able to check the progress of my stocks and share prices at the glance! Maybe I should just have bought the £40 4G Nokia!

At the weekend I was walking home with my brother when we saw a chap stuck between a car and a fence. The poor guy had a walker and the car was parked on the path, so tight to the fence that he couldn't get through. The fact the fence was falling down didn't help because a post got caught on the front of his walker and he was well and truely stuck.
We could see his predicament from quite a way away and also saw all the people who just walked in the road and around the car, bypassing him in silence. I offered help and he was very greatful, easily extracted and on his way quickly. How have we come to live in a world where a simple offer of help is beyond alot of people.
