Yes, I have a dear friend who lives opposite me.
She is the best friend in the world.
She looks after my house when I am away on holiday.
    Waters my flowers.
    Puts the bins out.
Keeps a key for when I lock myself out.
    Always ready for a chat
Full of good advise and solves all my problems.

Lyn - you did what I would have done. You have been very kind and considerate. There is no point upsetting your elderly neighbour who has been through so much. The workmen wouldn't give a damn. Time to reward yourself with some choccies or a glass of summat nice:D

Ive seen quite a few local houses being drilled for insulation, On every job the have firm used a industrial vacume to suck up the dust as they drilled.

Brick dust is a pig to clean up, for this reason I ALWAYS use water supresion on my cut of saw when I do paving jobs.

Trouble with the whole cavity insulation thing is its very difficult to match in the moartar used to plug the holes and unless the bloke knoking it up is skilled it often it shows up. ( asside from clenliness one advantage of using a suction vac is the drilling dust can be mixed with dye and or cement for a really good match).

If you haven't already cleaned up, then don't yet. Take loads of photos, have a word with neighbour to find out who did it, and get them back round. If they are awkward tell them you are going to talk to trading standards. Trading Standards won't do a single thing, but the threat is usually enough to persuade most dodgey sorts to behave themselves.

It was all cleaned away within a couple of hours.
The reason being I was afraid it would stain .
I don't think these were the best builders, I'm not sure how long it normally takes but they were only there for a very short time.
The house over the road had it done a few months ago and they didn't fill in the holes properly,( don't no if they were the same builders), but we had some windy wet weather the other night and it foam stuff from out of the wall was flying round the gardens.

Yeah, I reckon you should get their name in a polite way from the neighbour. Pretty rude the way they left you, but of course they weren't getting any money off you!
