Well, had great plans today to get a lot more work done on my little plot but had a couple of stumbling blocks....

At the minute, due to the last owner of my part of the community allotment not handing his keys in I'm beholden to getting the keys from someone else, grrr! Of course, the one guy (out of 3 people) who has a key to the tool shed was out this morning when it was kind of dry enough to be outside, so no dice there, again I say, grrr! whats most annoying is that the other day I offered to get keys cut for everyone but they said that such and such was going to town the next day so he'd get them done, but of course he didn't so still no keys.... grrr!

And then, it started pouring it down with rain :(

So, not to be deterred from doing something today, I popped to my fave garden centre and bought some veggie seedlings - turnips, savoy cabbage, leeks and purple sprouting broccoli, all autumn/winter cropping ones so at least I've got something to eat later in the year. I've potted them all into little individual pots so hopefully they'll grow big and strong ready for planting out. I know I might have been a bit presumptious with this but I really, really want to get started.

Also bought some pea and butternbut squash seeds, I know I'm a little bit late to sow them but I bought the ones where you can sow them up to June and, well, we are 'just' into July so I thought I'd give them a go, nothing ventured nothing gained, I always say! I did want to try some sweetcorn but all the seeds I saw were to plant Mar-Apr so I thought it was too late, what do you think? worth a try anyway?

Might have been a bit cruel and put the plants out in the yard already, in the rain, in a sheltered spot.

Also thinned out some lettuce and rocket I'd already sown a few weeks ago.

So at least I've done something, feeling quite proud of myself.

Now feeling all motivated so decided to have a cup of tea then tackle giving the bathroom a very, very good scrub down.....

    K xx

Kerry, you could get some Early Onward peas, some All The Year Round caulifowers. Some stump rooted carrots And if you like garlic, they can go in now, as well. Though, you wont harvest them until NEXT summer/autumn.

Lol Kerry to start of you have to make sure you like the stuff you're going to grow otherwise you'll just end up feeding the neighbours!

Do you like beetroot? as there is at least one variety that can be sown out now.

It's a shame really as just like yourself we got our allotment a little late in the growing season there's a guy who was lucky enough to get his 4 or 5 months earlier than us and his plot looks wonderful so much stuff growing happily away, never mind hopefully our own plot will look just as good as I'm sure yours will too.Hel.xxx.
