    Hi

I'm trying to identify a tree at the bottom of my garden
    leaf image

    Leaf is about 13cm long.
Tree is about 18-20ft high, and about 13 years old (not sure of size when it was planted by previous owners).

    I've tried various websites - but I can't find a close match.
    Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thats not much to go on Ian, are there any other distinguishing features such as fruits, at this time of the year there should be something.

Here's a pic of the tree, if that helps.

It bears berries in the autumn (but not yet) ... can't remember what they're like (only been here a year). Maybe best to wait a few weeks and post again?

Right, at a guess, if it has berries its probably some kind of Sorbus, put it in google and see what you get.

Thanks Pete - looks like it's Sorbus intermedia (Swedish whitebeam) - see this
Now that I know what it is, I can find out how best to control its growth - thanks very much for your help!
