I was thinking the other day (which can be dangerous) about the lack of allotments throughout the country and the demand for them.
There is alot of waste council land around and this could be used as allotments but there is no incentive for councils / government to use them as such.
Why dont they hand over areas nationally for allotments but with each site having a designated area for the local infant school.
This way the school will have fresh produce which is a very hot topic at the moment and would show the PM in a good light.
The children could come and learn from the plots, help grow etc.
It could also be agreed with the allotment association that they help maintain / help out with the plots as im sure most of our retired plotties would love to do.
This way it would only benefit the school, get the kids to respect allotments and they may even get the parents to start growing veg at home due to kiddie power !
The only downside to this is the council cant sell the land for a profit, but surely the benefits outweigh a few shortsighted quid.
What do you think to the idea, do you think it would be worth putting to the PM on that wesite of his.
Any comments / improvements would be appreciated
