    Hi folk!

Just want to say I'm having great fun with my new computer changing over from my 8-year old one with Me to my new one with Vista ... AND everything is in Portuguese ....

Now, I know I can speak the language but I'm a technophobe in English so what chance do I have here ...

The migration started last night and still has a long way to go. I have lots of art and photography stuff (good technical word) that has to be moved ...... some 3,500 photographs (2,000 plus of which are up on GC alone!).

I have to now learn how to do my art and photography in another technical language and keyboard and I'm just about coping with e-mails. Maybe I'll forgo the birthday and go back in time ...

So, not been around much lately and may be around a lot less ...

... but I'm still here. [IMG]

Thank you for your good wishes, imp and woo ... and they have obviously worked wonders. [IMG]

The final migration happened last night and I am really liking Vista, having gone from Me bypassing 2000 and XP. Just about got the iPhoto Plus4 downpat today, which is installed in English but my initial instructions come up in Portuguese.

Hello Newbie. I have my computer set up in both languages ... I use a Portuguese keyboard but touch-type in English. I see you are a Programmer but have you bought/used a computer bought in a non-native English speaking country? They come with the language of that country on it, ie, my Vista is in Portuguese and I cannot put it into English unless I additionally purchase the English version.

As to Googling for translation, that is a farce. They may be able to translate the everyday common word but cannot translate sentences correctly nor do they understand grammar or technical words. My knowledge of the language and dictionaries (both English-Portuguese, Portuguese-English and pure Portuguese) do me fine. [IMG]

So, I'm happy to report all is well on the homefront and besides that I got a shelving unit put up today and all my art, photography and gardening things are now neatly organised next to me.

PS Just saw your posting, borrowers, thank you, and as you can see I'm doing okay. Not so sure about the new wireless mouse with the usual two buttons, scroller and five additional buttons ?????
