I have just read in our Evening News that there were
mild after-shocks around 4.00 am. Didn't wake me that time [IMG]

Sarra - my o/h said he thought that the noise was me getting
out of bed to go to the bathroom. Cheek!
I may be a little bit overweight but I hope it doesn't sound
quite like an earthquake when I get out of bed!

Loved every second of it, what an experience. The last big rumble we had in this part of the world was in 1991, that was a building shaker as well but not as big as last night`s.

How can you love an earthquake?
I was really anxious wondering how
bad it would be. Think it brought back
memories of bombs falling etc WW2 when
    I was young.

jjordie i posted that then found out there was mild after shocks, because of the fright im sure something was moving later but i wasnt sure, thought i was dreaming.

pip i didnt love that the damage these things can do not only that lives can be lost, iff that was 5.2 i would hate to be in america or other countries experiencing much higher ones than ours.
my greatest worry is we are close to epicentre of it, how many more will we get and with this global warming we could in the future experience much higher ones, doesnt bare thinking about.

Hi jjordie and rosa, I appreciate the damage and destruction that these things can inflict not to mention the loss of life and what I really should have said was that I was excited at what was happening. We were fortunate that it was only a little one and I hope that I never have to endure one that causes widescale damage and loss of life.

I didn't notice either. Are there more earthquakes now or is it because we're told there are because of global warming etc?

I feel for the people that were affected by this.

Those of us who weren't, say thank you.

    Cheers

No Borrowers, there are not more earthquakes now and I don't think it's anything to do with global warming. I think it is just that more are reported because of improvements in a) reporting and b) detection in obscure areas.

Before you get blasted by other 'people', thanks for saying that.

I heard something today about 'ley lines' even though i don't know what they are, i know they're not spelt 'lay'. what are they? do they matter?

How wise are you? Have you got a job? I'll vote for you as PM no prob.

    Cheers

Yes Linda. Just as soon as the water learns to go along the Med., past Gibraltar, right up the coast of Portugal (DUCK LoL) and Spain, round France and up the Channel into the North Sea. I shan't sleep tonight worrying about it. [IMG] [IMG] :D

Ley lines (often known more simply as Leys) are the most enduring and well known of the New Age archaeological beliefs. Leys are supposed to be alignments that stretch across the landscape (generally that of Great Britain, although other places are said to possess them), thought to have been established in the distant past by prehistoric people. They are usually identified by so-called ââ?¬Ë?ley-huntersââ?¬â?¢ using maps showing ancient sites, churches, crossroads and so on located along a straight line that can range from one or two to many kilometres in length. Most ley lines are identified simply by an aligned placing of marker sites, but some are supposed to be marked by straight tracks along part of their alignment.

Never heard/felt anything this time but in '79 i were 10 miles from the epicentre, never forget it either, shake, rattle & roll. [IMG]

My house lies on a so called 'Ley' line that is part of a Lay triangle running from an ancient standing stone two fields away. We are surrounded by 'Beaker' burial sites, the nearest one is a few hundred yards behind my house.Oh and just for good measure, the house I live in yous't to be the local undertakers and the village cemetery is just across the road. I aint afraid of no ghosts!
