It seems my cameras gone missing, not a huge loss in £s as only a canon izsu 65 but the memory card was virtually full with 6 months of photos. Cursing myself as if Ive lost it outside with all the rain itll be knackerd.

Almost beats losing four pairs of felco no7s over five years and two pairs of oakley sunglases in a month (August this year!)

Atleast when I miss place my mobile I can ring It!

sorry to hear that pro gard

how do know you've definately lost it? i think you mean you had it, then when you got home you didn't? is that right? Have you tried phoning the police station to see if has been handed in [IMG] as you can see i'm cynical, not for the reasons you may think. anyway, it may not be totally lost.

i know our local paper sometimes shows a couple of photos that are mistakenly returned from a developer cos someone has given in the film. would this be any good for you?

as usual, it's not the cost materially but emotionally.

    good luck.
    cheers

Hi Pro Gard. If you could find the camera then the memory card inside should still be ok.It will only be ruined if the card was exposed to the wet.Can you not retrace your steps in the daylight to see where it could have gone.We always try to download our photos as soon as the card is full onto the computer so that we have them safely on disc.

I do hope you have a happy outcome.I am always losing my memory, but it always seems to find it's way back to me :D

Borrowers, Its got me beat, Searched the transit, the Navara, the house and my workshop all to no avail.

The last time I reported lost property to the police (ladder blew off my trailer) they atempted to do me for an unsecure load in actual fact someone had nicked the securing straps whilt I was parked up.

The second time when i was handing in a wallet id found I was usherd into a room at the back used as an emergency holding room and the door shut behind them meaning I was locked in for 45mins until I looked under the desk and set off the panic alarm!

No point going back to the propertys Ive been working at as all are over 2 acres and I cant recall were I last had it as I kept thinking it was at home or in the van etc!

I cant quite retrace were i had it but its either fallen out the pocket of my body warmer whilst working, Somwere really stupid at home or most likely Ive stuck it on the roof of the pick up and drove off or its fallen out my van.

Ill leave it a week or two in case it does turn up then buy a new one, point taken about saving to the pc as I go.

Perhaps a silly question, Pro Gard ... why was nothing downloaded onto a computer over six months? I am the sites original technophobe and download daily now.

I sympathise you have possibly lost lots of important photos ... but were they THAT important and, if so, why were they not on your computer already. ?????????

You are a professional I gather ... I have nearly 2,000 photos archived and I'm not a professional. Am I wasting time here?

No, only down loaded about half as been busy with work etc. Nothing of huge important but just very disapointing especially as some beutiful landscape photos taken whilst walking in the brecons and pictures of jobs ive completed etc.

"You are a professional I gather ... I have nearly 2,000 photos archived and I'm not a professional. Am I wasting time here?"

lol... Dont quite get your drift? Im a self employed gardner/contractor not a pro photographer!

Sorry PG ... 'm retired ... I only took up photography last year because of GC and my little garden and doing a weekly visit around this lovely little place where I now live ... which I put up in Country Life.

What I am asking you is why you don't download the pics you take as and when you take them ... they are obviously lovely pics and important to you. I clear my card down every time I take pics ... sometimes 50 to get a dozen good ones. Why keep them on the camera card? Tell me ... I'm not good with technology and maybe you have some secret?

LOL, That makes two of us that arent up with tecnolodgy!

I tend to take multiples and vet them as I take deleting the bad ones using just the camera screen.

Up to now regularly saving them on the pc has not been something Ive made time for as my work has been manic. I kept meening to spend a day sorting printing and saving them but didnt.

    A lesson learnt.

Okay, see where you're coming from ... but TAKE TIME, hear?

There is ALWAYS time ... be it just a few minutes ...

If something is important to you in life, take that few minutes ... it doesn't matter how manic your work is (I've been there) minutes count, sometimes hours don't.

You don't have to spend a day sorting printing and saving ... just save at that moment and look another time when you do have more time.

Life is short ... enjoy it with what you enjoy.

    xx

i totally sympathise. i never kept anything from my pc and my hd crashed earlier this year & i lost everything. Now, i wasn't too bothered because i don't know how to put pics on or anything, and didn't have anything of importance on there (just games & the like), but i did have some lovely pics of a nephew holidaying in Australia sent to me by e-mail.

Hindsight is 20/20, as they say. don't beat yourself up about it. you know, in 6 months time or something you may just come across it, even though you've looked in that place a hundred times.

Don't talk to me about police stations or whatever. i haven't had much experience of them but i wasn't impressed. Like you say, you are made to feel like the criminal even when you are totally innocent.

Like Rosa said, maybe Santa can help out this time of year.

if not, & even if, just enjoy taking the photos. you know what you took pics of even if you haven't got the hard evidence! it's the taking part that counts don't forget :D

hope you find it, failing that, hope you can get some more good shots.

    cheers

Proguard - always download your photos and don't use the memory card as storage. Memory cards break mnuch more easily than computers, my son has had two break on him. He now only uses the best cards but even so he downloads them as soon as possible. One day there will be one photo that you will really regret not saving. I know I have one. When I first started using digital i took a photo of a oil seed rape field dominating the photo with a single oak tree on the horizon - I took the shot low down among the rape flowers. I have one print of it mounted on my kitchen wall, but I cannot find the original file anywhere- its gone forever.

I'm not normally a person that loses things and, if I do, it drives me mad. I scour the house, car, shed, garage, garden until I find the offending item. I grill everyone within sight (have you seen.....what did you do with...?) I just HATE losing things.
