stupid question

I Know this a stupid question and im gonna regret asking it, but here go,s.. why are some members names in red and some blue :rolleyes: at the top of the main page

 

I thought it might be either links you've clicked on, or maybe its people who are moderators and admin and plain old members?

 

I would be curious to know, on the other hand, which criteria is used to display the names on top of the page...

 

YDD,I have often wondered that one as well.I just assumed it showed who had posted recently and who hadn't but I expect I am wrong.Perhaps one of the wise ones on here will put us all right.

 

never thought of that whiley links ive clicked on..i thought maybe the blue online.red offline, but Accidentalgardener was red and id just been talking to her..blah blah i havn,t a clue :D

 

and another thing...when i am oofline I often see my name at the top of the page...

miraflores we posted at the same time, do you log in and out (i dont)maybe thats why our names stay there

 

I think that after we log out our names stay at the top for a period of time,say 30 minutes,though sometimes I can log out and my name vanishes quiet quickly and at other times it lingers.I also log out but when I go back later it says I am still logged in when I know I logged out Such is the age of computers and all this fandangly stuff put here to confuse us all,a bit like the metric system.

If you shut down GC, you disappear immediately. If you just leave it, you go in 30 minutes with "this user has not been seen here recently".

I am permanently logged in but shut down when I'm not around. I use a computer not a laptop so, like now, hit F5 in passing to refresh to see what's going on.

 

I`ve never thought of that LOL.

 

LOL the wise one so you go red when when you shut down?

I find that with this laptop if I just press the refresh button at the top it is easier than having to press F5. Also if I leave the laptop on for any length of time it gets very hot underneath and so does the table it sits on so I tend to turn the whole lot off.If I leave it on standby I have an error message come up,so have to switch off anyway. :rolleyes:

We have also started pulling out the plug from the back of the router upstairs when we go to bed because even that gets hot and Mr Kandy says that if you leave it plugged in and you haven't got any security set up on the computer then people outside can hack into it,whatever that means :eek:
