There is something about Top Gear that is irresistable - and I have become addicted. Drool over cars and that combination of characters just pushes my buttons Sad eh. Tonight's amphibious insanity was just magic. :D

Car is just a work horse to me, but on subject of same, my husband had an MG (from new long before we married) we always used to take the **** out of farmers that found old cars in there barns,

THEN I got into rare breed poultry, we fenced everything up and one day someone came to buy a chicken and found this MG in the barn.

OH thr trouble we had getting the thing out - made 3 times the price he paid for it new though!

Cars so bore me, but even I put aside an hour for Top Gear. It's not really a car show is it! My other half was in tears last week with the boat challenge! If I can do cars - then only fair he do gardens. Roll on How To Be a Gardener - have I missed it? Got to dash....!

Yeap, just a workhorse to me too!

Must admit it is an entertaining programme, but bothers me that it sends out all the wrong messages to the young...image and speed!

My daughter bought a new Fiat Punto 2 years ago, and generously offered it to my 15 year old grandson free when he passes his test.

His reaction: I don't want it, my mates will laugh at me!

I used to have a toyota starlet which I replaced after it had done a very respectable mileage. The engine etc. was fine but bodywork was looking rather shabby. I gave it to my elder daughter when she passed her test. Her mates laughed but not when she went off to festivals on her own, or was able to ferry them about free of parental authority... She painted it with hammerite and it eventually did 250,000 miles!
Perhaps new drivers should be restricted to smaller engines, then there would be no temptation to show off.

I went to a filming of Top Gear last year, it was great, Jeremy Clarkson was so friendly, he would just walk up to groups and join in their conversations .... We had quite a long chat with him about cars, Richard Hammond was also very funny (and Very Very short), he picked out one of our group (who is 6'7), and said, 'What the hell is that' , referring to a chap who's nickname is Tiny :D , when he got him on the stage, Richard looked like a child next to Tiny :D

It was the episode last year that had Paul McKenna and the Mercedes McClaren that costs a fortune.

After seeing the filming, you never watch Top Gear in the same way after.

I'd love to do that. More - I'd love to be able to give my husband the opportunity to do that. Nathan, how on earth did you wangle that?

I was asked if I wanted to go by the car club I am a member of. Only 10 people from the club were alloted tickets and I was in the short list :D

OK - I have to ask! Which car club? (I was once in a car club - used to drive a Cappucino, it's a small two seater spors car and it's so small that Jeremy Clarkson once drove it round the aisles of a supermarket!). Had to give it up when I got pregnant and the only way out was to roll out onto the road!

    Have a look here :- www.essexscoobycrew.co.uk

OR:- (this is one of my Domains ;) ) www.SouthendCruise.com

Subaru Impreza Drivers Club or SIDC, www.sidc.co.uk

We do all sorts, lots of events and lots of things for charity, Christmas we do a Santa Cruise to underpriviledged children, taking presents donated by our club members, recently a Richard Burns Rally (a rally driver who dies in November 2005 from cancer).

It is a really friendly club. [IMG]

Ah, so that's why people ask about you Scoobying - thought it was something to do with, actually I won't say, you probably know what I thought it was to do with!

And all that good work - wow! Fantastic.

I think most enthusiast clubs are friendly , the love of what you're interested in surpasses any jealousy or nastiness. Well, I'd like to think so anyway.
